One of the major advantages to shooting
in RAW is we have immediate access to correct for any exposure
problems during a shoot. There are times though when we either forget
to set the camera settings to RAW, or we just prefer to shoot JPG
format. In either case there comes a time when open up an image to
process and discover we have taken an under exposed image.
Although this image of a baseball was shot in front of a dark background, the foreground has an obvious problem in the exposure department. Photoshop quick tip #1: Make duplicate copies of the background image, and set the blend mode to screen.
While on the background layer, hit ctrl +J to duplicate the background layer.
Change the blend mode to screen
If the image still need to be lightened, make another duplicate copy (ctrl +J) again.
The final result here was done using two duplicates of the original background layer. Each layer set to the screen mode .
